Red Ribbon Week 2025
Held annually during October, Substance Use & Misuse Prevention Month, Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign. Started in 1985 by the National Family Partnership to commemorate DEA Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who was murdered by a drug cartel, the campaign works to raise awareness of the impact of substance misuse in our country. This year's theme is "Life Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free" and there are awareness activities in schools and communities across the county throughout the week.
The Levittown Community Action Coalition (LCAC) and Massapequa Takes Action Coalition (MTAC) Coordinators from YES will be in Levittown and Massapequa schools to promote Red Ribbon Week. Collaborative Care Coordinators from YES' School Outreach and Support (SOS) Program will be promoting the week in the high schools they work in as well.

On October 30th, these New York landmarks will be illuminated in red to help raise awareness to the importance of living life drug-free and the detrimental effects of drug misuse:
